39th Annual Arts Festival on May 5, 6 and 7: Downtown Edmond

The weather forecast is perfect for a weekend outdoors in charming downtown Edmond. This week is National Small Business week and the 39th Annual Downtown Edmond Arts Festival is the perfect way to invest back into your community. Downtown Edmond will be bustling with activity, hosting over 60 locally owned businesses and restaurants, over 120 artists, seven local bands and 22 food vendors or wineries.

Elena Listen, the marketing manager for Downtown Edmond loves, “how there is something for everyone, art, music, food, shopping and even a children’s area.” This will be Elena’s fourth Arts Festival and she will stay busy all week managing the stage entertainment, supporting the media, artists and the public with any questions they may have. “It is wonderful to see families enjoying the festival in their community.”

The Festival kicks off on Friday, May 5 and runs through Sunday, May 7. Friday and Saturday running 10:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. and wrapping up Sunday from 11:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Listen also shared that many local businesses will hold extended hours, as shoppers fill the sidewalks. It is such a special time to spend with your family, surrounded by friends, neighbors and supporting artists and small businesses. There are new businesses and vendors every year, and Downtown Edmond is part of the vitality of this thriving community. It is a great chance to explore new adventures just down the street!

Edmond resident, Erin Moore, owner of Moore Home Interiors, a booth inside Broadway Antiques and Market, is looking forward to the weekend! She has overstocked her inventory to accommodate new business during the festival. In her booth, you will find a variety of unique antiques, lighting, art, custom décor and so much more. Erin is just one of many small business owners you can come support when you shop small all week long. She is even running a special, if you mention this Linked article, you will get 10 percent off your purchase. “I am most looking forward to meeting and serving members of this community; I love selling what I love….How great would it be to build community as well?”

The Arts Festival is family-friendly and will include interactive games, service vehicle tours, a children’s art tent, face painting and the kid favorite: inflatables! The corporate plaza will host many traditional yard games and recognize corporate sponsors.

The event is free to the public and will host more than 120 artists! In addition to the art and shopping tents, there will be live music, including appearances by the Jason Young Band, Riders Ford, Hillbilly Vegas, Wesley Pruitt Band and more. With over 22 food and drink vendors, everyone’s artistic and digestive palette will certainly be full!

In addition to serving the community with a family friendly and affordable event, the Arts Festival will benefit Angels Foster Family Network. Their mission is to rescue abused, abandoned, neglected children, match them with a select group of Angels' trained foster parents and ensure the maximum emotional, social and intellectual development of each child. Angels will be selling raffle tickets to win a gift basket with various items from downtown Edmond merchants.
